The 9th International Workshop on Advanced Spectroscopy and Optical Materials (IWASOM)

The 9th International Workshop on Advanced Spectroscopy and Optical Materials (IWASOM) will take place at the University of Gdańsk from 5 to 10 July 2026. The conference will bring together researchers from around the world working in spectroscopy, materials physics and chemistry, and advanced photonic technologies. The scientific programme will cover advanced spectroscopic techniques, modern optical materials, nanomaterials and metamaterials, as well as their applications in optoelectronics, lighting technology, photovoltaics, optical communications, and medical diagnostics and therapy.

Students, PhD candidates, and early-career researchers will play a prominent role in the conference programme. Thanks to funding provided by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under the Excellent Science II – Support for Scientific Conferences programme, they will benefit from reduced conference fees and complimentary accommodation.

The conference will be held at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of the University of Gdańsk, located on the Baltic Campus in Oliwa. In addition to an extensive scientific programme, the event will feature poster sessions and networking activities designed to foster international collaboration.

A special highlight of this year's edition will be a memorial session dedicated to Professor Andrzej Suchocki, a long-standing Co-Chair of the IWASOM conference and a distinguished expert in the field of materials spectroscopy.
